I am a wife and mother of two children, who aren’t that young anymore. I now have all the time I want to pursue writing and the business of publishing, which takes up an enormous amount of time.
What inspired the premise for your story?
I liked the idea of a strong and spunky, half-Navajo woman returning to the town that spurned her and the man she has fantasized about since grade school.
Does your heroine take after you? Or is she someone you wish you could be?
The heroine, Wind Whitebear is quite a bit like me. I can’t help but insert traces of my personality into my characters. I can empathize with how she felt in school, and what it was like to live with an alcoholic family member. I drew from my own life in regards to those experiences.
If you could sum up your new release with three words, what would they be?
Steamy, hot, and snakes! I apologize to readers who have snake phobias, as they are included in the novel.
What are your favorite hero traits that you cannot resist?
Who could resist a super-hot guy who is also kind and self-deprecating? Tyler McCormick is not only gorgeous, but he’s made some mistakes in his life and he’s had disappointments. When he sees Wind again, he vows not to miss this opportunity. I love strong men who know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it.
What were your aspirations as an author and have any of them come true?
I write under another pen name, which has been incredibly successful, hence making all my dreams come true. Just waking up everyday and being able to write is living the dream. I love my job. I live to write. It’s my bliss.
Some Quickies:
Sleeping bag or Bed? I need a comfortable bed. My sleeping bag days are over. Lol!
Dinner or Movie? Both!
Chiseled jaw line or Chiseled abs? It doesn’t matter. If he wants me and loves me, I’m good.
Holding hands or Holding his attention? His attention sounds nice. Then he can hold my hand.
High heels or Flipflops? Flipflops.
Mountains or Beach? I wish I could afford the beach, but I have to settle for the mountains.
Picnic in the park or Dancing in the club? I’ll take the park. Clubs are too noisy.
Sonoran NightsBy Carré White
Blurb:
She was the half-breed daughter of the town drunk who never knew her mother, but that didn’t stop Wind Whitebear from riding her motorcycle and fantasizing about high school quarterback Tyler McCormick. He was the richest kid in town and totally out of her league.
Her father’s unexpected death forces Wind to return to Gunstone, Arizona, where she finds herself embroiled in a mystery. As she unravels secrets, a chance encounter with Tyler opens the door to a connection that might have begun before, yet was never realized…until now.
As their attraction heats up, a threat materializes that no one suspected, and the truth is revealed with shocking consequences. But first, Wind must conquer her fear and trust the only man who has the power to break her heart.
Excerpt:
I eyed him, while he talked. He wandered from the kitchen to the living room staring at the floor. His butt had my full attention, and, each time he strode by, I followed his movements, tormenting myself with naughty images of us naked in bed together. He’d retained his athletic physique, and I imagined he visited a gym often to plump up those arms and tone that stomach. Oh…my.
“Are you all right?”
“Hum?” I’d been chewing on my lip, while staring at him. “Yep. Fine.”
“Where are you sleeping?”
Oh, man. That was a loaded question. “I can take the sofa.”
His hands were on his hips. “I should probably give you the bed.”
I shook my head. “No. It’s your place. I’m not driving you out of your own bed. The sofa’s fine.”
“I’ll grab a sheet and blanket.” He hurried into the next room, returning with several items. “I’ll shut some of these lights off.”
While he was thus occupied, I slid the sheet over the bottom of the sofa, tucking the edges in. I found a remote control buried in the corner. I straightened, tossing hair over my shoulder, and caught sight of Tyler staring at me. He’d had an unobstructed view of one of my best assets: my butt.
“Is there a pillow?”
“Yeah. I’ll get it.” His gaze lowered to my chest. Oh, dear. Now he would know I wasn’t wearing a bra. He left the room, returning with a pillowcase. “Here.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem.” There was heat in that look, as something carnal simmered in the depths of his eyes. “I’m hittin’ the hay. Have a good one.”
“Night, Tyler.”
He stopped by the door, his back to me. “If you…if you’re maybe thinking of coming in here later. I won’t lock the door.” He wasn’t going to wait for me to answer, disappearing into the room.
I sat and stared after him for a long time, debating with myself, while my body hummed the tune of arousal. It would be so easy to join him. What exactly was stopping me? He didn’t seem to be in love with his girlfriend, and I wasn’t dating anyone. One night of hot sex needn’t interfere with my plans to leave town. It had been too long since I had been with a man, which was partially my own fault for not wanting to get involved with anyone. I was on the pill, although I wondered sometimes why I still took it.
Wrapping a thick rope of hair around a finger, I played with the strands, while mulling over my options. I had nearly died today. Someone wanted me dead. It was the same person who had ended my father’s life. What if they succeeded tomorrow? If I didn’t take this opportunity and fulfill a lifelong wish, I would regret it. Movement out of the corner of my eye startled me. It was Tyler.
“This is ridiculous.” He’d changed into shorts, although the rest of him was gloriously naked. “You’re thinking the same thing I am. Don’t even try to deny it.”
“I…can’t get involved with you.”
“I can’t get involved with you.”
“I shouldn’t have come here. The temptation is just…awful.”
He smiled. “I know exactly what you mean.” My fears were actualized when he approached, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist him. He knelt before me; his eyes were like the blue of the ocean, before it dropped into the abyss. “I’m gonna blame it all on you.”
“What? What did I do?” My voice was hardly louder than a whisper.
“Anyone with that body should be arrested. This isn’t a joke.” His hand was on my knee, which sent a spasm of sensation straight into my tummy. “Did you wear those shorts on purpose?”
I almost couldn’t speak. His fingers massaged me, producing delicious shivers that left me nearly senseless. “I sleep this way.”

Great to have you here, Carré! Best wishes to you in your career!
I am always looking for new authors to read. Your book sounds like the kind I love to read so I have added it to my TBR list.

I will ask a question of the author. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life (it can't be your own) what would it be?
Thank you for featuring me, Renee.
Thank you for the kind welcome!
If I could read one book for the rest of my life? I'd say "Lord of the Rings", but it's three books, so I'm cheating. Lol! I love the underlying themes in those stories. Home is where the heart is, war is bad, but you have to sometimes fight for what is right, and it's okay to have a second and third breakfast.
Sounds good to me.
A very interesting sounding book. Thanks for the info I now have a new author to read.

What is the one place in the world you would love to visit?
I would really love to go back to Italy. I went when I was a kid, but I never saw Venice or Tuscany.
I was in a yoga class one time, and a woman talked about having gone on a trip to Tuscany, where they sat in the garden and read Jane Austen out loud. I was so jealous. That would be a dream. :)
Congrats to Carre on her new release! Thanks for sharing :)
Nice excerpt
